Mitzvahs and other early teen parties are best planned with all the most important parties in attendance. This would include the persons (usually adult: Parents) who contracted the party, other siblings and those for whom the party is being held.
Experience has shown that these early meetings help determine the expectations of the adults and the teens. Usually there are two extremes and all the gray area in between. One extreme is that conduct a continuous series of games and activities through out the evening and leaving very little time for the teens to be self motivating or on their own. The other end of the spectrum is to conduct the equivalent of a high school dance where we play music without interruption and there are very few if any announcements, games or activities. This choice makes the results of the party the teens responsibility and usually requires very mature 13 or 15 year olds. Most often, a middle area of some free self directed time and some games or activities is the best solution. Don’t ignore the parents as some of the music will be adult request for their dancing pleasure.
We are happy to meet with you before hand at your (or ours) place to discuss everyone’s expectations and to get us all on the same page. We can bring video, still pictures, huge play lists on computer and our years of experience to help you get started planning. The ethnic part of these events is also an area that the teens and the grandparents of parents usually have different ideas about how much emphasis there will be on this portion of the evening. In the past, we have found that all types of ethnic music are usually best presented in groups of 3 songs or less in each block. The real difficult part to predict is how many blocks of ethnic music are desired. This is easily solved after we all have some idea of everyone’s expectations. The amount of ethnic music can be from as few special requests or an all ethnic evening. We remain flexible to adapt to your guests and the situation. Also, special activities associated with these events are not a problem including candle lighting ceremonies, Father-Daughter dances and La Marcha.
Announcements (birthdays anniversaries, and special thanks) can be many or none. We can be very interactive Masters of Ceremonies or do no direction or speaking at all. All of our participation beyond playing music is entirely discretionary. Your family is welcome to suggest any special activities or announcements you would like included or deleted of your own creation or from the list below. Themes, Props, Costumes, Dancers & Dance Instructors, and Give-Aways all can be included, emphasized or not included at all. Theme parties are based on every type of idea you might have, but the most common are Sock-hops, Grease, Disco, Country, Barn Dance, Sports (themes of every type), Holiday, Renaissance, Star Trek, Luau and hundreds more. The theme can be extended into props and costumes that continue the theme or party favors that helps set the mood and decorate the participants and Djs. Dancers and dance instructors can be added to extend the theme with instruction or entertaining demonstrations for your guests.
Activities and Games can be selected from the list below or of your own creation. You will notice that there is only a title without any explanation. We will be happy to explain either in person or over the phone. And we are happy to use your creativity to make both even better party planners and producers. As always all events include as much or as little service as each of our clients requires and a sound and lighting system that is big enough to easily do the job without being overpowering or overpriced. Mention that you read about a free confetti shot at your party on the Internet and we’ll include it on your show. Thanks for taking the time…Marty.
Our goal quite simply is to make your wishes come true.
